English Electric DEL 1620, temporarily based at Toowoomba for 'Carnival of Flowers' Spring Bluff Shuttle duties, made an early morning Departure, and eased down the Main Range through Lockyer with its load of a single water tanker for a rendezvous with the ARHS Steam Train (hauled by BB 18 1/4 1089) at Helidon....From here it would provide the bulk of the motive effort for the combined Train, marshalled BB/WSE Gin/DEL 1620 and 9 Wooden-Bodied Heritage Cars, for the Climb back up the Range through Spring Bluff to Toowoomba for an appointment for the COF Procession.
Awarded to Toowoomba-based Driver Max Bidgood, for the 2006 Queensland Rail (QR) Golden Throttle Award...and worn proudly by fellow-members of his depot.
